To: Whom It May Concern

It's always hard not to wonder what kind of person the receiver of the card is...well, to begin with, we ask our customers for a brief description of the receiver so that the card will be specially personalised. But with that little info, the mind does wonder beyond that... At Mel's Inc, I had several customers who would give me a whole paragraph (even more if I'm lucky!) of description of the receiver; I find it very interesting and more enjoyable creating the card knowing a bit more about the person... some even go beyond preference of colors, shape etc, to what the person likes to do in his/her free time! Talk about making new friends! :) That's the beauty of handmade cards... we make it from the heart, from one friend to another.

Suzannah has been a loyal customer at Mel's Inc, and with the new venture with Buttons & Ribbons, she has loyally ordered more cards from us! Thanks Suzannah for your endless support! We hope you continue lovin' our cards! :)

Memories.....of Perth'09

I can still remember the cool crisp air, the bluest skies, the neverending seas, the freshest seafood, the sheer feeling of joy and freedom, but most of all, I remember the moment which made this vacation so special.

Here is an excerpt of the scrapbook I made for this trip. Enjoy.... :)

A peek into the past - 'Best of Mel's Inc'

Birthdays, Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day, Thank Yous, or just a casual 'Just to say Hi' card, Mel has made all of them since the beginning of Mel's Inc. I personally love the money/voucher holders. Undeniably the best choice for the 'super busy' (too busy to crack our brains to decide what to buy for our dear friends), the money/voucher holder acts as a card with a personal touch and an envelope to house the voucher or cash. Your friend might just be secretly relieved you didn't get him or her that 'last minute' photo frame/mug/t-shirt that does not fit:)

Here's a collection of her past creations, I would like to call - 'Best of Mel's Inc'.

The End of March...

..marks the time we turn a year older. We've come a long road, from prankster teens clad in the white and blue uniform, to young aspiring business partners! Each year we groan at the thought of adding another year to our age, but at the same time, we look forward to the moment we unveil the pretty wrapped gift and card we exchange. As much as we enjoy making cards and wrapping up gifts, just like you, we love the thought of receiving one! :)

Happy Birthday to us!

Circa "Long Time Ago".....

I remember as a little girl, when the other kids were crazy over battery operated, light-flashing, sound-making fancy toys, I kept myself occupied with stationery, yes, stationery. I would safeguard my stash of origami paper, patterned letter pads, "magic markers" (as they were known back then), my trusty set of Caran d'Ache coloured pencils and other "equipment". Stamping my various chops on paper gave me a sense of euphoria! I knew then, I was a crafty girl. This stationery stash was my comfort zone, I would feel joy just flipping through my collection of fancy paper and doodling with my "magic markers". I was sometimes secretly afraid this was an obssession.

Years later, to my delight, I found someone who shared the same obsession as me. You may know her from Mel's Inc (Mel's Canvas-http://melscanvas.wordpress.com/). Mel has been creating hand-made personalised cards for close to two years now. Her creations are down-to-earth with simple clean designs. But most importantly, when you receive one of Mel's cards, you will feel the sincerity, love and warm wishes from the sender.

Mel and I, have decided to take the plunge and expand Mel's Inc. We have made the choice to combine our obsession and passion for craft to bring you "Buttons & Ribbons Paperie". Our focus will be highly personalised cards and gifts which are made with our heart and soul, and a dash of our harmless obssession. Please stay tuned as we will be uploading some of our creations (past and new) real soon.

xoxo,
Emmeline and Mel
