Card sizes

A4, B5, C6, B12..........vitamins came to my mind. Even I get confused when it comes to paper sizes. So, here at BRP, we are making it as simple as can be.

It's been a Year...

...since we got married. I know how cliche it may sound, if I say that it doesn't feel like a year but much shorter! Truth is, that's exactly how I feel... Maybe  life has become shorter, maybe due to global warming time has become faster (?!), or just maybe, life has been good to me... this past one year, married to the man I now call husband, has been more than I could have asked for. And though it feels shorter than 365 days together, I'm proud to say that we've come quite far in achieving our dream... for that, I'm so very thankful.
Happy First Year Anniversary, Haikal...

Missing you...

When the phrase comes to mind, one can't help but to think of a romantic relationship, where both parties are separated overseas, and yearning to see each other oh-so-badly. Ok,don't fret, this romantic introduction will not turn into a Danielle Steele novel. Truth is, one can miss anyone- near or far, young or old etc. Once the heart is fondly inclined or attached to another person, his/her absence will most definitely be felt. And absence does not really have to be out of sight; you may see the person everyday, yet still miss him/her. How is that possible you may wonder... well, we human beings are such complex creations. One can be physically present, but yet spiritually and emotionally disconnected from others. I guess it's rather common in this day and age, where work sometimes becomes the priority of one's life, neglecting family and friends.

So if you're missing your husband, sister, mother, best friend or even ex-boss, write them a note... send them a pretty card...just so they know you're thinking of them....

{bal masqué}

Masquerade balls were extended into costumed public festivities in Italy during the 16th century Renaissance . They were elaborate dances held for members of the upper classes, and were particularly popular in Venice and were also associated with the tradition of the Venetian Carnival. Amongst a sea of masked individuals, mysterious and illusive, how do we tell the real identity of the person behind the mask? We would never truly know, with or without the mask... life is after all, a big masquerade.

Gettin' sticky with it!

We were super excited when we collected our new "BRP" (Buttons & Ribbons Paperie) stickers last week. Each of our creations will be adorned with one of these babies :)

To: Whom It May Concern

It's always hard not to wonder what kind of person the receiver of the card is...well, to begin with, we ask our customers for a brief description of the receiver so that the card will be specially personalised. But with that little info, the mind does wonder beyond that... At Mel's Inc, I had several customers who would give me a whole paragraph (even more if I'm lucky!) of description of the receiver; I find it very interesting and more enjoyable creating the card knowing a bit more about the person... some even go beyond preference of colors, shape etc, to what the person likes to do in his/her free time! Talk about making new friends! :) That's the beauty of handmade cards... we make it from the heart, from one friend to another.

Suzannah has been a loyal customer at Mel's Inc, and with the new venture with Buttons & Ribbons, she has loyally ordered more cards from us! Thanks Suzannah for your endless support! We hope you continue lovin' our cards! :)

Memories.....of Perth'09

I can still remember the cool crisp air, the bluest skies, the neverending seas, the freshest seafood, the sheer feeling of joy and freedom, but most of all, I remember the moment which made this vacation so special.

Here is an excerpt of the scrapbook I made for this trip. Enjoy.... :)
